Never place an EGG directly on wood or another combustible surface. For maximum heat protection—especially during long or high-temperature cooks—Big Green Egg recommends combining the metal Table Nest with an appropriate granite tile or other properly specified noncombustible barrier. Periodically inspect the area beneath the EGG for heat damage.
